Changing Expression
Changing Expression is a textile design project exploring woven structures with changing properties in material and expression. The motive is to find another expression of the change in PVA, pemotex an pleating techniques in combination with structures in the textile design field. The aim of this work is to find new expressions of woven structures in combination with change in the material, and in change of printed or woven faces on the woven structures. The faces bring another dimension of change to the weaves, and give the observer something to relate to. Many try outs were made by experimenting in both hand weave and machine weave, to find out what expression that was interesting. Moodbords of different concept was a starting point for the idea of combining a PVA and copper weave with printed faces. This result in to printed faces on hand weaved structures, and machine woven jacquard faces. This piece combines with melting PVA, changing pemotex or folding to change the expression of the faces. This exploration of weaves in combination with change and facial expressions let the observer see a change in woven structures that they can relate to, react to and discuss.
